  • 1 Set border style and thickness
  • 2 Set border color
  • 3 Set a dropped shadow
  • 4 Set spacing between the border and the text inside the border
  • 5 Set spacing between the border and the text outside the border
You can add or change borders for a table, paragraph, or graphic. You can also change the border color, style, and thickness, as well as the margin between the border and text inside or outside the table.

=Add a border=
  1. While editing a document, and do one of the following:
    • For a table, place your cursor anywhere in the table, and click Table > Table Properties.
    • For a paragraph, select the paragraph (you cannot set borders around multiple paragraphs at once), and click Text > Text Properties.
    • For a graphic, place your cursor anywhere in the graphic, and click Picture > Picture Properties.
  2. Click the Table Borders, Paragraph Border, or Picture Border tab, and follow steps below for different options.


Set border style and thickness

  1. Follow steps 1 & 2 for "Add a border."
  2. In the Border style section, select a border style.
  3. Below the Border effects section, select Thickness in the menu.
  4. Adjust border thickness in appropriate border location field (Top, Bottom, Left, Right) to see results.
    Note: To change all sides at once, click the larger arrows to the far right of the border locations.

Set border color

  1. Follow steps 1 & 2 for "Add a border."
  2. In the Border style section, select a color in the Color field.
    Note: You can customize colors by using the color wheel button in the top right corner of the Color box.

Set a dropped shadow

  1. Follow steps 1 & 2 for "Add a border."
  2. In the Border effects section, select Drop shadow.
  3. Adjust the size of the shadow in the Width field.

Set spacing between the border and the text inside the border

  1. Follow steps 1 & 2 for "Add a border."
  2. Click the arrow next to Thickness, and select Inside from the list.
  3. Adjust amount of space in appropriate border location field (Top, Bottom, Left, Right).
    Note: To change all sides at once, click the arrows to the far right of the border locations.

Set spacing between the border and the text outside the border

  1. Follow steps 1 & 2 for "Add a border."
  2. Click the arrow next to Thickness, and select Outside from the list.
  3. Adjust amount of space in appropriate border location field (Top, Bottom, Left, Right).
    Note: To change all sides at once, click the arrows to the far right of the border locations.
